Hello hello another week another review...
Here are a few from Thailand which I have tried and liked them. In fact I reviewed them before in my previous old blog but I will do it again since it was pretty long ago...OK here goes..
1)CLASH

CLASH is pretty popular since their first few albums and they are pretty catchy edgy hard rock/metal band with melodies...reminds me of Japanese visual band (Luna Sea) in some ways which combines rock/metal/punk styles with really catchy melodies and even their ballads songs are great!
Well, not that surprising since some people commented on the similarities on certain song/s.
This aside , I bought a couple of their albums and I liked the first 4 albums which are the best !
The last few were not that outstanding and they probably ran out of ideas. The vocals are pretty strong
and expressive especially in the ballads and really brings out the emotions of those songs.
From their gigs and live sessions, seems there are a lot of female fans too.
Well, they say good things never last...they have disbanded in 2010 and some members form or joined other bands. Still a good band with solid albums to check out!
Ratings: 4/5
Check it out at youtube! Just search for Clash Thai band, there should be quite a lot of videos around.

2)Bodyslam

Bodyslam, another thai rock band which is pretty popular with good strong vocals and they won best rock band in 2008. They are still active now but I didn't get the latter albums. I have tried the 1st four albums and I preferred the 3rd and 4th (Save my life and Believe). More memorable tracks.
They are kind of different from Clash as their melodies are more "Thai flavored" but still really catchy and in fact I heard them when I was in a taxi in Bangkok years ago...
Visit their site and of course they are plenty more thai pop rock indie bands,so do get out of your comfort zone and try and discover them!
Because of the vinyl resurgence,Bangkok now has many vinyl shops too and there are a number of newer hip ones. There are also a few traditional and long time shops but vinyls are not that cheap nowadays. You can also check out those night markets which has some bargain used titles. Even Thai artists' vinyls are quite highly priced 1500-2000 baht sometimes. To me the cds are much more affordable.
